Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

I have made sloppy Joes a bunch of times. Sometimes using the store-bought mix, other times chopping up all the vegetables (took me forever), and now with the slow cooker. This was so simple and our place smelled amazing, I couldn’t wait to try them. I came across this idea while on pinterest, from a blog called A Duck’s Oven. I adapted it slightly using ground turkey, but lean ground beef would be great too. Enjoy:)
Ingredients:
1 lb. Lean ground turkey
¼ cup diced onions
1 tsp minced garlic
16 oz tomato sauce
¼ cup water
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp mustard
Directions:
1. Heat a medium sized skillet over medium high heat and spray with cooking spray
2. Cook turkey for 10 minutes and add onions and garlic, cook an additional 5 minutes
3. Add the tomato sauce, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, peppers, chili powder, and mustard into crock pot
4. Mix in the turkey mixture, cover with lid and let cook on low for 6-8 hours

5. Serve with toasted whole wheat hamburger buns
